Dramatically set in truly magnificent scenery directly beneath the towering north face of one of Switzerland's most famous mountains - the Eiger, Grindelwald offers something for everyone. Grindelwald provides extensive skiing and snowboarding to suit all abilities, with a half pipe and snow park, and 20 km. of dedicated tobogganing runs. Grindelwald's three ski areas extend from the South facing area of First over to the North facing areas of Männlichen and Kleine Scheidegg, from where you can ski down into Wengen. Ski pistes face into the valley from all sides so you can tailor your skiing to the prevailing weather conditions. Mürren is also within easy reach on the same lift pass, and the four stage cable car ride up to the revolving restaurant at the top of the Schilthorn at 10,000 ft is well worth the trip. Paragliding is available both summer and winter. Tandem flights with highly experienced, safety-conscious Swiss tandem pilots are a fantastic way of seeing the mountains from a new perspective.
Along the pretty main street there are numerous restaurants, lively bars and discos, as well as sports facilities ranging from swimming to ice skating. As the Telegraph described it ” With a couple of hundred kilometres of skiing in some of the most dramatic scenery in the Swiss Alps, there’s more than enough to keep the average skier busy in Grindelwald.'

Grindelwald Apartments Chalet Alpstein photos

Chalet Alpstein is only moments away from the ski-bus stop, and the train station is just 3 minutes walk away. The many restaurants, shops and local supermarkets are also only 150 metres from the front door. The ski-bus whisks you either up to the sunny 'First' gondola station, or down to 'Grund' for the gondola up to Männlichen, while the train takes you all the way up to Kleine Scheidegg at the base of the mighty Eiger.
